The material read
Galvanized mesh is zinc over steel, and in this state the zinc is what road salt and freeze cycles slowly consume. Bare galvanized shows surface rust past a decade near a plowed road. Vinyl-coated mesh seals the steel and pushes that out past twenty years. Snow is a non-issue, since mesh passes drifting snow rather than catching it.

Galvanized mesh gives fifteen to twenty years here before rust becomes visible at the ties and bottom rail. Vinyl-coated mesh reaches thirty. Frame posts almost always outlast the fabric. Ask for an assessment and quote before reusing the posts with new mesh.
It can, provided it meets the barrier requirements. The fence has to reach at least 48 inches, mesh openings must be small enough that a child cannot get a toehold, and the gate needs self-closing and self-latching hardware. Many owners still prefer aluminum around a pool deck.
For most dogs, yes, and it is why chain link keeps its share of our work. Diggers need the bottom secured with a tension wire or a buried apron. Climbers need height, typically five or six feet, and no top rail to push off.
